Leona Jones

Leona "Lee" Marie Jones, age 81, of Sherwood, died Jan. 11, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Anton Keller and Helen Keller. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ret. Lt. Col. William "Bill" Jones, sisters Margorie Keller, Elenor Keller, Ann Yturri and brother Richard "Gus" Keller. She is survived by her sister Arlene Cook, brother Antone "Tony" Keller, children Philip (Trish) Jones, David (Terri) Jones, Diane Jones, Patricia (Mickey) Whitlock, Michael (Sheri) Jones, Marsha (Mario) Calvo, Sandra (Charles) Witt and 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Jones was born Sept. 5, 1930 in Collyer, Kan. and grew up in Ontario, Ore., where she met her future husband. They were married in 1949 in Ontario, Ore. Shortly thereafter, William began his career as a pilot in the United States Air Force. Thus began her life as a military spouse, moving she and her seven children around the world. After Bill retired in 1975, they settled in Sherwood, where Lee enjoyed playing Mah Jongg and camping in their motor home. She was a member at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Her greatest desire was to instill in her children a strong faith and love of family. Visitation with the family will be held at Immaculate Conception on Monday, Jan. 16 from 6-7 p.m. with holy rosary immediately following. The mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Little Rock. She will be buried with her husband at the Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery immediately following mass. Please sign the online guestbook at www.husonfuneralhome.com.
