Dora Marie Parker Hanks

Dora Marie Parker Hanks, 85, left this world to be with her lord on January 19, 2012. Ms. Hanks was born in New Albany, Mississippi, on June 9, 1926. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Covington, Tennessee, where she lived most of her life. At the time of her death, Ms. Hanks had been a resident of Little Rock, Arkansas, for 12 years. Ms. Hanks is survived by her sister, Mary Ruth Kellum, of Burlison, Tennessee; two sons, James Douglas Parker of Pocahontas, Tennessee, and Embry Neil Parker of Carlsbad, New Mexico; two daughters, Linda Darlene Eastman of Carlsbad, New Mexico, and Cathy Lynn Underwood of Little Rock, Arkansas; two stepchildren, Joseph Hanks of Memphis, Tennessee, and Wanda Tharp of Irving, Texas; and nineeteen grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother, Nannie Lou Brassfield Delashmit, and her father, Spencer Embry Norvell; two husbands, Roy Estes Parker and Russell Hanks; and three children, Thomas Sanford Parker, Mary Lou Smith, and Roy Earl Parker. Visitation will be Sunday, January 22 from 5-8 p.m., and services will be Monday the 23rd at 11 a.m. both at the Munford Funeral Home, Munford Chapel. Interment will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
