Josephine Lois Lavena Dobbs Phillips

Josephine Lois Lavena Dobbs Phillips, 81 years, was called by the Lord away from all her suffering & pain on Friday, January 27, 2012. Ms. Jo is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Miles Reeder, her loved & cherished friend & companion of 40 years, Mr. Dan Daniels, two grandchildren, Cheryl LaDean Gibbins & her companion Kim Gibbins & Jason Edward Green and his wife Shebrina, & two great-grandsons, Alexander David Gibbins & Matthew Blake Green. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings and their spouses, brothers James R. Dobbs, Jr. (Margie), & Edward O. Dobbs (Margie) & sisters Ruby Mae Potts (Roy) of & Shirley A. Nipps (Charles Edwin), a host of nieces & nephews who were all very dear to her, & a tremendous multitude of extended family, friends & coworkers who she cared for beyond words. Ms. Jo was predeceased by her husband of 19 years, William M. Phillips, her parents, James Roscoe & Ruby Dobbs, & her sister, Mrs. Betty Jean Pope. Ms. Jo was a caring, meticulous person & this is reflected in everything she did, particularly the years of nursing service that she provided at St Vincent's Infirmary, both the old & new Baptist Hospital on 7B & AR Children's Hospital where she worked until she retired. She acquired her RN degree at UALR at age 54, after working most of her life as an LPN. She also provided private duty nursing, home health care, & hospice service. All former co-workers would be most welcome to attend services. Although nursing was her primary passion, she was known for her abilities in many hobbies & skills, such as sewing, gardening, fishing, hunting, painting, crochet, knitting, ceramics, & hand-crafted jewelry. She loved her pets, Shaggy & Diva. She was also an avid league bowler & enjoyed golf. She took delight in hosting large gatherings of family & friends, as she was an excellent cook. Pall bearers will be Jason E. Green, Charles E. Nipps, Mark Nipps, Wes Lody, Roy Potts, Alex Gibbins, Matthew Green & Trey Carter. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday evening, January 31, 2012, 6-8 p.m. & funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Griffin-Leggett Funeral Home located on Hwy 5 in Alexander, Ark. with interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
