Alleen Tarleton McKimmey

Alleen Tarleton McKimmey, age 96, of Warren, Arkansas died peacefully at her home May 2, 2012. She was born July 2, 1915 in Hannibal, Mo. The only daughter of the late Charles Llewellyn Tarleton and Georgia Wilson Tarleton. At age 2 years, her family moved to Warren where Alleen and her 3 brothers were raised. Warren is the home place of Alleen's maternal grandmother, Virginia Martin Wilson, and generations of Martins. Alleen graduated from Warren High School in 1933, attended Monticello A. and M. College for two years. She then attended Draughn's School of Business in Little Rock and from there headed to Washington, D.C. to seek employment and further schooling. She married Frank Edward McKimmey, her high school sweetheart on September 2, 1941 in the First Methodist Church in Warren and following his release from the U S. Army Air Corp after World War II they made their home in the Washington, D.C. area. Each had careers in Civil Service. Alleen was a secretary in the office of Chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Board. Upon retirement in 1975 they returned to Warren, then traveled extensively and spent time regularly in Solano Beach, Calif., Sun Valley, Idaho and San Francisco visiting with her brother. Alleen was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Frank, and by two brothers Charles L. Tarleton, Jr. of Little Rock and Ralph Meredith Tarleton of Warren. She is survived by her youngest brother, George Wilson Tarleton and wife Louise, Hillsborough, Calif. and his three children, Lisa Alleen Tarleton Johnson and husband Craig, Bellevue , Wash. and their three children, Guy Wilson Tarleton and wife Serina, Santa Barbara, Calif. and their three children and Dr. Scott D. Tarleton and wife Paula, Bellingham, Wash. and their three children.; her nieces and nephews of her brother, Charles L. Tarleton Jr., Charles Tarleton, III and wife Olivia, Winchendon, Mass. and their three children, Elizabeth Ann Tarleton Sanders and her husband Walker, Malvern, Ark. and their two children; and Ralph Tarleton's two children, Bruce Tarleton and wife Kelly, Memphis, Tenn. and their child, and Meredith Stoecker, Malvern, Ark. and her two children. Having no children of her own, Alleen was uniquely loving and supportive always of her Mother and Father, and of her brothers and their families. Playing Bridge with her friends and attending Razorback games and watching sports on TV were special joys for Alleen. Her hobbies included making salt rising bread which she shared with many. She made many new younger friends as she out-lived her contemporaries and much enjoyed her independent lifestyle living in her own home until the end. Her passing leaves a void in many lives. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church of Warren. Memorial services 2 p.m., Saturday, May 5, at the Warren Methodist Church. A reception in the church parlor will follow the service.
