Martha Paisley Fast

Martha Paisley Fast, 85, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs. She was born July 19, 1926, in Mokpo, Korea to Florence Jarboe and James Ira Paisley. Martha grew up in Korea where her parents were Presbyterian missionaries and came to the United States in 1940 when the family was evacuated before World War II. She graduated from Arkansas College, now Lyon College, in Batesville, Ark., in 1947. She and her husband, Stan, moved to Hot Springs Village in 1985. She was a member and Elder of Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines and elected Woman of Faith by the Kirk's Presbyterian Women for 2008-2009. Martha was a member of the 18-Hole WGA, Village Card Club, P.E.O., the Democratic Club of Hot Springs Village, HSV Women's Club, the VFW Auxiliary and the Arkansas Razorback Club. She is predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Anne Boyd, and a twin sister, Florence Williams. Martha is survived by her husband of 59 years, Stanley W. Fast; two sons, Stanley Wayne Fast Jr., and wife, Cindy, of Bethel Park, Penn. and Alan Paisley Fast of Emporia, Kansas; two grandchildren, Laura Waterstram (Kirk) and Stanley Wayne Fast III, (Autumn), and great-grandson, "Jack" Waterstram. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines, 275 Asturias Dr., Hot Springs Village, Ark., with the Reverend Bill Bailey officiating. A reception will follow in Hoffius Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines Memorial Fund, Lyon College Memorial Fund or P.E.O.
