Emma Lou Tyler, 89, of Conway passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012. She was born on Tuesday,November 28, 1922 in Conway to the late Samuel Q. and Lena Gertrude (Langford) Starkey. She is survived by her two sons, Tom Tyler and wife Linda of Russellville and Johnny Tyler, Jr. and wife Liz of Conway; a daughter, Kaye Mimms and husband Jerry of Conway; eight grandchildren, Tad Tyler of Bella Vista, Ark., Aaron Tyler of Littleton, Colo., John "Trey" Tyler III and wife Tori of Conway, Clint Tyler and wife Beth of Conway, Kristen Pruett of Cabot, Ark., John Mimms and wife Aimee of Morrilton, Michael Mimms and wife Jennifer of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Michele Lax and husband John of Little Rock; 11 great-grandchildren, Kayla Tyler, John "Beau"Tyler IV, Axel Tyler, Brody Tyler, Ridge Tyler, Allie Pruett, Anna Lee Pruett, Tyler Mimms, Luke Mimms, Jackson Mimms, and Lillian Mimms; and two brothers, Bobby Starkey and Bill Starkey of Conway. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, John Thurman Tyler Sr.; sister, Montine Anthony; and four brothers, Vick Starkey, Sam Starkey,Jake Starkey, and Carlos Starkey. Mrs. Tyler was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Most of her activities were centered around her family She was active in the Conway Schools PTA, Girl Scouting, family trips, and was an avid follower of Wampus Cat athletics, American Legion baseball, Hendrix College basketball, and UCA football. In her youth, she was an outstanding catcher in a semi-pro softball circuit. Mrs. Tyler was an excellent cook and loved to host family gatherings during the holiday seasons. She loved flower gardening and participating various garden clubs. She was a longtime member of the Faith Sunday School class at Conway's First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, May 10th at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway with her nephew, Reverend David Bailey officiating. Entombment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, May 9th at the funeral home.
