Carol Ruth Cormier Ellis, age 80, died May 19, 2012 at the DeWitt City Hospital. Carol was born Feb. 18, 1932 in Little Rock, Ark., to Harry Wilson Cormier Sr. and Myrtle Rankin Cormier. Carol was Chairman of the Board of Cormier Rice Mill, she attended First United Methodist Church, she was a founding member of Bullish Belles, and she attended Arkansas State College. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and brother, H.W. "Buddy" Cormier Jr. Survivors include her husband, Frank Ellis; children, Jim Ferguson and wife Rita of DeWitt, Julie Simpson and husband C.W. of DeWitt; stepchildren, Robert Ellis of DeWitt, and Ronald Ellis and wife Karen of Barling; grandchildren, Beth (Zack) Phillips of Barling, Brock Ellis of Ft. Smith, Matthew Ferguson of DeWitt, Michael Ferguson of DeWitt, Lauren (Morgan) McDonald of Maumelle, Aarron (Nikki) Armstrong of DeWitt, Trent Ellis of Fayetteville, and Courtny Ellis of Conway; two great-grandchildren, Annebelle Phillips and Zac Armstrong. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 6 p.m., at Essex Funeral Home. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Daniel Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will be in Cedarcrest Memorail Gardens by Essex Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 527, DeWitt, Ark., 72042.
