Dorothy Jane Myers

Dorothy Jane Myers, 94, of Carlisle, was born Jan. 23, 1918 in Carlisle, the daughter of Mabel Wilson Myers and Roy C. Myers. She graduated from Carlisle High School with honors in the class of 1935. Upon graduation she attended secretarial school in Kansas City, Mo. and then worked as executive secretary at Doty Laboratory. On her return to Arkansas, she was employed in several departments by the State of Arkansas. Dorothy retired from the Arkansas State Plant Board. Ms. Myers was a member of Carlisle First United Methodist Church, lifetime member of the Carlisle High School Alumni Association, and the Lonoke County Women's Democratic organization. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Roydon Urton of Carlisle; nephew, Myers Munnerlyn (Kathy) of Seagoville, Texas; niece, Jane Ann Munnerlyn Harper of Carlisle and Santa Cruz, Calif.; and cousin, Wilson Sexton of LaJolla, Calif. Graveside service is 10 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2012 at Carlisle Cemetery. Arrangements by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.
