Ms. Virginia Mae Smith, 85, of McGehee, Ark. passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark. She was born to the late Carl and Blanche Thompson Smith on May 19, 1927 in McGehee, Ark. She was active at First United Methodist Church and active in a Stock Club and Hospital Auxiallery. Ms. Smith worked for Southwestern Bell for nearly forty years and also worked at Desha Circuit Clerk's office and Desha Tax Collector's office. She was a very talented acrylic painter and loved to crochet. Ms. Smith is survived by her niece Carla Coleman (Thomas) of Pompano Beach Fla., her sister-in-law, Joan Smith of Vestevia Hills, Ala., cousins; Frances Thomas of Sheridan, Ark., Lillian Wilson of Prattsville Ark., Billie Oliver of Sheridan, Ark., Nancy Buchanan of Scranton, Ark., and many other family members and friends. Funeral Service for Ms. Smith will be 9 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in McGehee, Ark. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, May 25, 2012 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service. Burial will be 1 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2012 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Austin, Ark.
