James Terral Thompson, 88, of Sherwood passed away April 3, 2013. He was born in Des Arc, Arkansas on March 12, 1925 and was preceded in death by his parents, Wils and Reesie Thompson, two brothers, Vernon (Helen) and Howell (Bobbie) Thompson, and a sister, Alby (Leon) Ferguson. He was employed by Arkansas Power & Light/Entergy for 38 years and by ARKLA for 5 years. He enjoyed many leadership positions including Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater in the Philippines. He was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church, a Mason and a member of American MENSA. He loved to cook, read books on physics and speaking French, and to write short stories about his childhood, some which were published. He cherished his family and loved his friends and no one in his circle doubted their importance to him. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Matheny Thompson, by his daughters, Christy (Marty) Cotten of Nashville and Terri (Gary) Fulton of Dallas, and two grandchildren, Stephen and Misty Cotten. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at North Little Rock Funeral Home and a graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 16th Section Cemetery in Austin, Arkansas.
