Robert D. "Bob" Salzman, 84, of Cabot died Sunday, April 7, 2013 in his home, surrounded by family and friends. He was born January 19, 1929 in Libertyville, Illinois to the late Herman F. and Margaret Bauer Salzman. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Woodstock, Illinois and was a member of Cabot United Methodist Church. Bob retired from the United States Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant, after 30 years of service to his country. After retirement he was in the real estate business, Dyson Oil Company Sales, and worked in the Rolling Hills Country Club Pro Shop for several years. Throughout his life, Bob loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards, and was an avid golfer. He leaves behind many golfer friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Dhom. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Phyllis C. Jumper Salzman of the home; sons, John Todd Salzman and his wife Kelly, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Philip Craig Salzman of Cabot; daughter, Robin Diane Salzman Johnson and her husband, Johnny of Russellville; sons, Robert Stephen Salzman and Mark Allen Salzman and his wife, Carrie; and daughter, Sharon Jordan, all of Illinois; grandchildren, Parker and Lindsey Salzman, Drake and Bryce Johnson, Jayden and Jared Salzman and Carley Salzman; two sisters, Jean Reeb and Marge and her husband, Ronald Lipinsky; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Cabot United Methodist Church, with burial immediately following at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the 6C staff, and the Hospice nurses at the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock. Also, many thanks to the in-home Hospice Care Team.
