George "Dick" Rolfe Murphy, beloved husband, father and grandfather, born November 12, 1917 went to heaven to join his wife Kate on April 9, 2013. He was born and resided his entire life outside of Crossett, AR on the family homestead. He served in the US Navy during WW II and was employed at the Crossett Paper Mill for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by wife of over 60 years Kate Murphy, his parents George D. and Sallie Murphy and siblings, Hugh Murphy, Bob Murphy, Thelma Daniels, Eleanor Honeycutt, Laura Clark, Pete Murphy, and Fred Murphy. Mr. Murphy enjoyed gardening, fishing, raising blueberries, and fixing nearly anything he could get his hands on – from neighbor's pumps to discarded broken chairs. Dick is survived by brother Ben Murphy and wife Sally; sister in laws Pauline Lochala and Merle Murphy; sons William Murphy of Crossett, Frank and wife Louise Murphy of Dallas, Texas, Mike and wife Sheryl Murphy of Friendswood, Texas, and Phillip and wife Anna Murphy of North Little Rock, Ark.; and Grandkids Jonathan and wife Kristin Murphy, Denton and wife Celina Murphy, Michael Murphy, Christine Murphy, Dr. Katie and husband Chase Darr, Ward Jablonski, George Murphy and Phillip Jablonski. George was a long time member of Wallers Chapel Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Waller's Chapel Methodist Church with Brother Boyd Savage presiding. Interment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. (www.jonesservice.com).
