Frank Gutierrez, 92, of North Little Rock, went to be with his Lord on April 14, 2013. He was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Jose and Guadalupita Sisneros Gutierrez on January 29, 1921. He served proudly in the Armed Forces in Kodiak, Alaska and Europe during War World II. Upon returning from the War, he came to Little Rock to visit his sister Juanita Thurman and began his career at Wonder Bakery in 1945. His baking experience began at an early age, since his parents owned a Bakery in downtown Santa Fe. He started as a baker and worked his way up to Bake Shop Superintendant. Wonder Bakery is where he met his wife Marietta Garrison Short. He retired after 38 years. After his retirement he volunteered for 10 years at the VA in Little Rock and also with the AARP. He had a love for music, especially Frank Sinatra. He was an excellent dancer and was a member of "The Dance Club." He was known for his stories and loved to make people laugh. He never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his two brothers and three sisters, Elejo and Fortino Gutierrez and Juanita Thurman, Nashie Lujan and Isabelle Gutierrez. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marietta; step daughter, Rita Newman, of North Little Rock; two grandchildren, Brad Newman (Erin) of McRae and Melany Newman Stacionis of Illinois; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Mahnken, Lane Newman and Mallory Stacionis; two half sisters, Mary Linda Gutierrez and Kathy Wallace; two half brothers, Joe Gutierrez, Jr. and Amado Gutierrez. A Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, 5124 Hillcrest Ave. Little Rock. Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
