Benjamin Walter Waggoner

Benjamin Walter Waggoner was born February 13, 1945 in Fayetteville, Tennessee and passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin LaFayette Waggoner and Ruby Beatrice Bruce Waggoner of the Lois Community in Tennessee. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Suzann De Shazo Waggoner and five children, Benjamin (Valerie) Waggoner; Rebecca Suzanne Waggoner; Nathan (Queena) Waggoner; Jonathan (Rekha) Waggoner; Sarah Elizabeth Waggoner. He has eleven remarkable grandchildren, Benjamin; Joshua; Caitlin; Matthew; Gretchen; John; Ethan; Austin; Kiran; Elliot and Samuel. Ben loved gardening and loved providing produce for the community to share. He was nearly glued to his little blue Ford tractor during the growing season. He was a member of the Faulkner County Master Gardener Program for many years. Ben was also a thorough master of the electric keyboard. He has a passion for gospel music and was an active part of many gospel singing groups. He enjoyed his music ministry at the woman's prison unit in Pine Bluff, with the Morgan Full Gospel Church. He played by ear and could not read music. He never played the same song twice the same way. It was nearly always delightful. Ben spent many hours supporting his son's quarter mile dirt track racing through all of the different phases and car class changes. Ben helped his wife, tirelessly, with her fine art painting competitions and would drive across county for art exhibitions in other states to promote her artwork. Ben was happy, funny and had a kind word for everyone that he knew. It was not common knowledge that Ben graduated from Florida State University with a degree in business administration and was a Commissioned Officer in the Air Force. He was a crew commander at the Titan 2 missile defense system in Arkansas, for his last tour of duty. He became a gifted cabinet and furniture maker and for 40 years made exquisite pieces of custom-made furniture. Funeral visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Arkansas. Private burial will be at the Mount Vernon Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the programming fund at AETN Foundation, P.O. Box 100, Conway, Arkansas 72033 or to any charity of your choice, in Ben's name, that promotes the well-being of others. For online guestbook, www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.
