Dr. DOROTHY TRUEX, 97, of Little Rock, Ark. died on April 18, 2013. She was born in Sedalia, Mo., on Oct. 6, 1915, to the late Dr. Reverend Chester and Madge Truex. She graduated from William Jewell College, with an AB degree, The University of Missouri with an MA, and a doctorate from Columbia University, and post doctoral study at Harvard University. She held presidencies of local, state, regional and national organizations including the National Association of Women Deans, Administrators and Counselors. She was a member of Little Rock Centennial Daughters of the American Revolution, a lifetime member of the Association of University Women, The Women's City Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, Altrusa, Book fellows, as well as other organizations. She was a member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church, and during her career was Dean of Women at Northwest Missouri State University, Mercer University of Macon, Ga., the University of Oklahoma, and vice-chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She was honored by William Jewell College as an outstanding alumna, the hundred Outstanding Women of Arkansas, and outstanding member of the National Association of Women Deans, Administrators, and Counselors. She was also listed in several Who's Who books. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one nephew. She is survived by a brother, John Truex, and his wife Doris; a nephew, Richard who has three children, Richard II (Chip), Victoria, and Alexandra; and a niece, Charlotte Mair and her husband, Mike Mair, and son, Jeffrey. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2013 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, 13801 Chenal Parkway Little Rock, (501)224-8300. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
