VANDY NELSON HOBBY, age 64, of Mabelvale, Ark., passed away unexpectedly in his home on Thursday, April 18, 2013. Vandy was born in San Francisco, Calif., on April 24, 1948 to his late parents Burnie Cornelius Hobby and Candace Alene Buckmaster Hobby. Vandy was a beloved son, brother, cousin, and uncle. Survivors include his sister, Norella Hobby of Vacaville, Calif.; his brother, Rodney Hobby of Alexander, Ark.; and his aunt, Rachel Gozdowiak of Sanborn, N.Y. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers Timothy Hobby and Michael Hobby, and by his sister Allison (Bernadine) Hobby. Vandy loved fishing, water sports, 60s music and sci-fi movies. He was baptized in the First Missionary Baptist Church in Mabelvale in his youth. Vandy will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Services will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Griffin Leggett-Forest Hills Funeral Home at 10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander, Ark. Visitation begins at 12, noon. The service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Cameron Albert officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
