Swifton Tole, age 80, of Pangburn, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013, at his home after a courageous battle of leukemia. Swifton was born in McJester (Cleburne County) on October 27, 1932, to Avalee Henderson and Edmond Swifton Tole. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Henderson and Eddy Tole. He is survived by three sisters, Katy Bridger (Harley) of Searcy, Virginia Thompson (Dale) of Benton, and Anita Key (Wayne) of Lincoln, Nebraska; six nieces and nephews, Ron Bridger, John Bridger, Patti Ferguson, Tim Thompson, Gregory Key, and Julie Key; thirteen great-nieces and nephews; five great-great-nieces and nephews; two very special friends, Ruby Billingsley and Kim King, both of Pangburn; as well as a host of cousins and friends who loved him. Swifton was retired from the Security Department of Boeing Aircraft Company of Wichita, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Pangburn United Methodist Church and the Pangburn Masonic Lodge. In 2011, Swifton was presented with the first Outstanding Community Service award by the Pangburn Masonic Lodge. In 2012, the city of Pangburn awarded him a certification of appreciation for his dedicated service to the community. He was also honored by the Pangburn United Methodist Church for his love, leadership, and service with a special recognition pin. Swifton's greatest love was for his family. He was known in the family and in the community as one who always helped others. He will be missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 23, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Olmstead Funeral Home, 601 West Main Street, Heber Springs. Funeral will be Wednesday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Pangburn United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Henderson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pangburn United Methodist Church, 508 Austin Street, Pangburn, Ark. 72121, Henderson Cemetery Association, or Arkansas Hospice Foundation, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Ark. 72116.
