Johnny Ray Carter, 59, of Jefferson, Ark. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 25, 2013. He was born and raised in Pine Bluff to Aubrey and Vlasta Rose Payonk Carter on Jan. 9, 1954. He graduated from Dollarway High School in 1972 and was employed with AT&T and was currently working in Risk Management. He was a highly accomplished individual and just recently received recognition for his 40 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Central Arkansas Chapter-Harley Owners Group, NRA Endowment member and a member of S & H Hunting Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Carter; half-brother, Aubrey E. Carter; sister, Mary Annette Carter and grandparents, Joseph G. and Belle Carter. Survivors include his mother, Rose Carter of Pine Bluff; brother, Bobby Joe Carter of Mo.; sister, Becky Rose Spadoni (Larry) of Pine Bluff; fiancée, Sandy Vera of Jefferson; special aunts, Martha Powers (Louis) of Fla., Lola Russell (C. L.) of Tenn.; special cousins, Teresa Browning (Alton) and David Rand both of Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Shannon Jennings (Delmar), James Carter (Amanda), Amber Carter, all of Mo., Kenneth Carter of Ill., Doug Carter of Pine Bluff; great nephews, Nathan and Dylan Jennings, Zander Carter; great niece Ashton Carter; step-son, James Metcalf of North Little Rock, along with many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 30, 2013, 6-8 p.m. at Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 1, 2013, 2 p.m. at First Assembly of God in Pine Bluff with Reverend Gary Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Pine Bluff.
