John Neil Killough

John Neil Killough, went to be with The Lord on August 6, 2013 in Wynne, Ark. He was born July 29, 1924 in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Oliver Neil Killough I and Lucy Armstrong Killough. He attended Wynne High School, where he was active in football, basketball, and was Valedictorian of the class of 1942. He attended Vanderbilt University one year, entered the Army in July 1943 and received his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. During World War II he was sent to England as a member of an armored replacement pool, then moved to the European Theater and joined the Second Armored Division in Holland and saw action during The Battle of the Bulge. Following his discharge he attended the University of Arkansas where he received his BA and LLB degrees. He entered into the practice of law with his Uncle Walter Killough in Wynne, Ark. He was appointed Deputy Prosecuting Attorney of Cross County in 1955 and after the death of his Uncle, he and Bob Ford formed the Killough and Ford Law Firm. After 50 years of practice he semi-retired to a practice of his own where he would have more time for travel, tennis, and golf. He married Esther Williams of Parkin, Ark. and they are the parents of three sons. He was a member of Wynne Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir member. He was active in Rotary, Arkansas Bar Association, Second Armored Division Association-"Hell On Wheels", and Crowley's Ridge Country Club. He is survived by his wife and sons, Stephen Malone Killough (Robin), and Walter Kyle Killough (Cecelia), grandsons Ian Armstrong Killough and Oliver Geza Killough. He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Neil Killough I and mother, Lucy Armstrong Killough, and son Oliver Neil Killough II. Memorial services are Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Wynne Presbyterian Church, burial in Cogbill Cemetery. Kernodle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
