Dr. Stanley R. Reed, 82, of Batesville passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at White River Medical Center. He was born in Martin, Tennessee, January 21, 1931 to William Richmond Reed and Mae (Smith) Reed. Dr. Reed graduated from Hendrix College, and attended Perkins School of Theology and later received his EdD from the University of Arkansas. He taught Junior High School in Hot Springs where one of his students was future president, Bill Clinton. He was the Head Resident of men at the University of Arkansas, was the Dean of Students at UAMS, and for 20 years, he was a Professor at Arkansas College. He loved learning different things. He was a licensed electrician, licensed pilot, a real estate developer, an entrepreneur, a home builder, and a school bus driver. Stanley was passionate with a good sense of humor and he loved to travel. He loved animals and cats, and was a statistician. He was a board member of the North American Blue Bird Society and built blue bird boxes. He served in the U. S. Army and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Batesville. He is survived by his wife, Urba (Carpenter) Reed of the home; a son, Rick Reed and his wife, Angela of Batesville; a daughter, Tanya Wright and her husband, Richard of Little Rock; a step-daughter, Candace Stokes of Germantown, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Leann Mullens, Leslie Reed, Clint Reed, Dylan Wright; two step-grandchildren: Sandra Bryant and Suzanne Walker; five great-grandchildren: Madison Mae Reed, Caroline Walker, Brandon Walker, Kaitlyn Bryant, and Charlotte Bryant. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph Reed of Virginia; a sister, Anne Ward and her husband, Norman of Van Buren, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews and other friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Steele and Rev. Justin Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranch Memorial Fund, P.O.
