Gale F. Cooper, 81, of Austin went to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2013. He was born August 15, 1932 in Melbourne, Arkansas to the late O.S. Cooper and Pauline Anderson Cooper. Mr. Cooper proudly served his country for 22 years in the United States Army where he was a Green Beret and served during Korea and Vietnam. Following his military career, he worked as a civil engineer and lived in 11 countries. He was a faithful member of Old Austin Baptist Church and he lived his life serving others. He was a loving family man and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Gale never met a stranger and was not afraid to show his affection to others. Whether you were his child, grandchild, friend or new acquaintance, you knew how he felt about you as he always fondly told you, "Daddy loves", "Grandpa Loves", or "Old Man Loves". These sweet words and this precious man will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Morris Cooper; his children; Stephen Cooper and his wife, Debbie, John Cooper and his wife, Bella, Matthew Cooper, Elly Rumbach, Julie Jones and her husband, Monte, James Cooper and his wife, Lorie, and Michael Cooper; his grandchildren; Jordan Rumbach, Nathan and Ryan Cooper, Ashley Cooper, Ethan, Seth and Jacob Jones; his sister, Jane Sheridan and his brother, O.S. Cooper; and a host of friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Old Austin Baptist Church with Brother Mark Martin officiating.
