Jewel Strickland Cherry

Mrs. Jewel Strickland Cherry, 70, of Hamburg, died Sunday, December 1, 2013. Mrs. Cherry was a native of Chicot County; a resident of Hamburg for many years and a former resident of Crossett. She was a homemaker and was of the Assembly of God faith. She is preceded in death by an infant son; her parents, Albert (Pete) & Elnora Lynn Strickland; five brothers, Vernon, Buford, Charles, R.G. and Donald Strickland and a sister, Audrey Hill. She is survived by a son, Wayne Cherry and wife, Daphne, of Omaha, Georgia; a daughter, Debbie Fay Vorhease and husband, Carl, of Haworth, Oklahoma; four sisters, Lois Adams of Lake Village, Joyce Cessor of Hot Springs, Barbara Carpenter of Hamburg and Sandra Kay Smith of Watson; a grandson, Michael Vorhease of Crossett. Funeral services 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in the Montrose Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday in the chapel of the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Montrose Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. Angie Lynn, 329 Lynn Road, Portland, Ark. 71663.
