Bettye L. Ray

Bettye L. Ray, age 78, of Searcy died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 in Searcy. She was born February 12, 1935 in Searcy to Charles Lattner and Mable Angelea Powell Lattner. Bettye was a member of the First Baptist Church in Griffithville. She married Vernon Dale Ray on November 21, 1953 and they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. She was a loving wife and very nurturing mother. She was a devoted homemaker for much of her life. She was a great cook and enjoyed fixing dishes and feeding her many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one daughter, Aleesa Crawford Ray of Heber Springs. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Terri Layrock of Heber Springs, Sharon Ray of Cabot; four sons, Michael Ray and wife Deana of Allen, Texas, Tracy Ray and wife Laura of Romance, Randall Ray and wife Dawn of Searcy, Tony Ray and wife Teresa of Rosebud; one sister, Nettie Bledsoe of Kensett; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 12:00 noon with funeral services following at 1 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy with interment at White County Memorial Gardens.
