Arthur Horton, 91, of Clinton, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at his home. He was born July 22, 1922 in Cotton Valley, Louisiana to Arthur and Mabel Horton. The family moved to Newport, Arkansas when he was a small boy, and he lived his youth in Newport and Little Rock, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Kathleen, an infant daughter, and one granddaughter, Lenesha Jarka. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Evelyn (Matthews) Horton, daughter, Jo (Stan) Serio, daughter, Carol (Bill) Orr, four grandchildren, Randy Serio, Kyle, Jason, and Tyrec Jarka, and two great-grandchildren, Danelle and Ezra Jarka, and many close friends. Art volunteered for military duty in 1944 and saw action on D-Day at Gold Beach, and later in the Philippines. He promised God he would never volunteer for anything again. And he didn't. Arthur retired from Colonial Baking Company after 23 years, then was employed by Ben's Exxon, and Morgan Hinges, Inc. He was a member of Clinton Methodist Church and an enthusiastic amateur radio operator. Two of his favorite contacts were with Gen LeMay as he flew over Little Rock one night, and contacting a man in Cuba. He was so excited. Then he only found out it was Cuba, Missouri. He leaves many friends in Clinton and Little Rock to cherish his memory. Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Clinton United Methodist Church with Paster George Odell officiating. Cremation Arrangements are entrusted to Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas. Online guest book: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.
