Gladys Dale Blount Gibson

Gladys Dale Blount Gibson slipped softly from Earth, Nov. 21, 2013. At her side was her beloved daughter, Jean. Born in Searcy, Ark., on Jan. 21, 1927, of Golden and Dale Kelly Blount, she moved to Little Rock at age 11. She met and married her talented musician husband and years later when they moved back to Little Rock she directed the children's choirs at First Christian and Second Presbyterian as well as giving private voice lessons in the Bel Canto method of singing. She was a featured soloist with the Bach Society of Greater Little Rock as well as the Second Presbyterian choir. She was beautiful beyond words and sang with an Angel's voice. She now sings in Heaven's elite choir. She is survived by her children, G. Steven Gibson, Little Rock; R. Kelly Gibson, Roseville, Calif. and D. Jean Gibson of Fayetteville, Ark.; a sister, Lila Lee Blount Porter (Dave, deceased) of Pinole, Calif.; a brother, Golden Blount (Julie) of Dallas, Texas; and her former husband, B. Lecil Gibson of Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard L. Gibson. She leaves behind four granddaughters, Kristin Lecil Gibson, Fayetteville, Ark.; Susan Leslie Bryant, North Little Rock; Melissa Ashley Gibson and Suzanne Michelle Gibson of Roseville, Calif.; one grandson, Jonathan Steven Gibson, Little Rock; and three great-grandsons, James Kenneth Bryant, Christopher John Bryant and Michael Harding Bryant, all of North Little Rock. She also leaves behind four nephews and one niece. Her memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Little Rock at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 16.
