MARY LOUISE WHITE MANGUM SPLAWN passed away Dec. 10, 2013. She was born in Prescott, Ark. in 1925 to Gordon and Judith White. A lifelong staunch Presbyterian and dedicated Democrat, she was a homemaker, was employed by the Newport Public Library, and later by the State of Arkansas. Mary Louise was an active member of the Presbyterian Women and the church choir. Her other passions were her grandchildren, traveling, bridge, and her volunteer time at Arkansas Arts Center. Mary Louise was preceded in death by her parents; as well as her husbands, Wilson Page Mangum and Harold Splawn; grandparents, Maddie and John Speights and Richard and Addie Cheatham White. She is survived by daughters, Judith (Kelley) Johnson, Rebecca (Steve) Engstrom; son, William Page (Amalia) Mangum; granddaughters, Page Ketcher, Louise Ketcher, Kate Mangum; and grandson, Patrick Mangum; great-granddaughter, Lila Roux Mangum; and her sister, Meredith Rucker. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Park Hill Presbyterian Church, 3520 JFK Blvd, North Little Rock Ark. 72116; or 1st Presbyterian Church of Newport, Fourth and Main, Newport, Ark. 72112.
