Loraine Backus

Loraine Backus, 92, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 21, 2013. She was born December 23, 1920, to William Lee Billingsley and Bessie Simmons Billingsley in Palestine, Ark. Loraine was a member of St. James United Methodist Church for many years. She worked in the insurance business underwriting national square dance competitions for a number of years, and she and her husband won many national square dancing titles. She loved her family, faith, and fulfilling her role as homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James L. Byrd and Howard L. Backus and her brother Billy Jean Billingsley. Those remaining to cherish her memory include two sons, Kim (Pricilla) Backus and Howard (Colleen) Backus all of Little Rock; daughter, Pam (Jed) Hollan of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren: John Hollan, Mark Hollan, Shannon Bethune, Cameron Backus, Courtney Backus Norton, Jacquelyn Harrison, and Kelsey Backus; four great-grandchildren: Deklan, Austin, Derek, and Tyler; and her brother Audelle Billingsely.
