Sam Nellum

Sam Nellum, age 88, died January 26, 2013. He was born February 24, 1924 in Lonoke County to Henry and Vada Nellum who precede him in death, also preceding him, his wife of 40 years, Viola Nellum, one son, Charles Ray Scott Nellum, four sisters, two brothers and eight step-children. He confessed his hope in Christ at an early age. He was a member of the New Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Paul Nellum. Sam is survived by one daughter, Doris Jones of Seattle, Washington, two sons, Sam Scott ( deceased wife Gladys) Nellum of Clarksville, and Darnell Scott (Karen) Nellum of Lonoke, eight grandchildren, one brother, Rev. Paul Nellum, all of Lonoke, five step-children, Bessie (Grady) Matthews, James (Wiola) Scott, both of Pine Bluff, Jack (Pearlie) Harris of California, Finnie (Sandra) Harris of Little Rock and Mattie Woodard of Lonoke; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special niece, Essie Johnson who was his caregiver. Visitation: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Lonoke.
