Gordon Wilbur Tarter

Gordon Wilbur Tarter, 88, of Carlisle, passed away, Friday, Feb. 1, 2013. He was a veteran of World War II, a farmer and a member of the Carlisle First United Methodist Church. He was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Carlisle, the son of James U. and Susie Rowland Tarter. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Keith and David Gayle Tarter and two sisters, Allene Cox of England and Sue Turner of Little Rock. Gordon is survived by his wife, Jackie Tarter; one son, Gordon Tarter Jr. and wife, Sandy of Carlisle; one daughter, Jan Pasley and husband, Mike of Hazen; two sister's-in-law, Faye Tarter Carroll of Benton and Sue Tarter of Little Rock; two brother's-in-law, Roy Cox of England and Dr. Thomas Turner of De Valls Bluff; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Carlisle. Interment will be in the Carlisle Cemetery.
