Mildred Rena Wittenauer Milliken

Mildred Rena Wittenauer Milliken, age 90, of DeWitt passed away February 6, 2013. She was born February 16, 1922 to the late John Earl and Estella May Kinder Wittenauer. She was predeased by her husband, George Raymond Milliken, whom she married on July 3, 1938. She was also predeceased by her two sons, Don Earl Milliken and John Dale Milliken and one grandchild, Nathan Kyle Milliken. Mildred was an active member of her community. In 1941, she joined and became a member of Bayou Meto United Methodist Church and served in the United Methodist Women's organization. Mildred had a strong patriot spirit and was an active membre of the Grand Prairie Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. She served many years in both the Bayou Meto and Point DeLuce Extension Homemakers. Mildred enjoyed reseaching her family history and sharing her genealogical knowledge. She was a member of the Grand Prairie Historical Society. She was a Friend of the Arkansas Post Museum and a volunteer at Arkansas Post National Memorial. Mildred is survived by her sister, Dana Wittenauer Galvin of Little Rock; two daughters-in-law, Gail Hargrove Milliken and Nan Bell Milliken; seven grandchildren, Kevin Milliken (Mikki), Dawn Watkins (James), Don Keith Milliken (Jamie), Donna Gail Milliken, Gena Jennings (Warren), Dena Carole Milliken, and Misty Kay Vega (Juan) and many great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Bayou Meto United Methodist Church with burial in Bayou Meto Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Bayou Meto United Methodist Church, c/o Sue Berry, 1492 Hwy. 276, DeWitt, Ark. 72042 or to your favorite charity.
