Robert Joseph Conard

After a courageous fight against cancer, Robert "Bob" Joseph Conard, Sr. age 76, of Cabot, Arkansas went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Bob was born June 21, 1936 in Cabot. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet Lavon Shurley Conard. Bob was a native of Cabot, graduating from Cabot High School in 1954. After their marriage, Bob & Lavon spent time in Alaska where they had many memorable experiences. They returned to Arkansas where Bob retired after a 37 year career at International Paper Company in Pine Bluff. He was a member of Carthage Presbyterian Church, a Past Master of White Sulpher Masonic Lodge #122 F&AM, a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason, Past Patron of OES #583, Gideons International, and IBEW Local #2033. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and traveling with his wife and family. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Charles Fields Conard, mother, Marjorie Johnson Conard and son, Robert Joseph Conard, Jr. He is survived by his sons, Michael Alan (Mickey) Conard (Debbie) of Cabot and Charles Anthony (Tony) Conard (Angie) of Hot Springs; brother, James M. Conard (Betty) of Little Rock; grandchildren, Ashley and Weston Conard, both of Cabot, Jodi Conard of Jacksonville, Robert Joseph Conard, III (Amber) of Cabot, two great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Bijay Nair and his staff and the oncology nurses at Baptist Health Care. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Reverend James M. Conard officiating. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home in Cabot.
