Wayne Lee Douglass Sr.

Wayne L. Douglass Sr., 74, of Hot Springs passed away Feb. 22, 2013, at National Park Medical Center with his loving family at his side. Wayne was born Oct. 5, 1938, in Hot Springs; he was predeceased by his parents Lee Andrew and Rubie Douglass both of Hot Springs. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Sara Martin Douglass, daughter Cynthia (Greg) Parker and Son Wayne L. Douglass Jr. (Lora) all of Hot Springs. Five Grandchildren Jesse Lee, Hannah Corinne, Kristopher Corey Parker, Paige Marie and Leigh Ann Douglass; a sister Pat (Carroll) Bridges, a brother Mark Thomas (Susan) Douglass. Brother-in-law David Clifford (Safronia) Martin, Juliet Mitsy (Raymond) Findley, and Julia Bitty Martin, Several nieces, nephews and cousins. And his loyal companion, Sammy. In 1992, after serving his country and completing two tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam during conflict he was honorably discharged from the USAF as a SMSGT. Upon retirement he continued to work with the Disabled American Veterans at local state and national levels. He also was employed with the State of Arkansas Employment Security Division. He was an active member of the following organizations: Elks lodge #380, Disabled American Veterans, Athletic Commissioner for the state of Arkansas, member and deacon of Central Baptist Church, member of the Caleb Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, He was youth leader to the protestant youth group in Spangdahlem Germany, youth leader at Central Baptist and the Gideons. Pall bears will be Tommy Conly, Don Chmura, Larry Frazier, Howard Daniel, Rudy Bischof, Gene Watson, Jimmy Faulkner and Mike Dennis. Honorary Pallbears are: Elks Lodge 380, Disabled American Veterans, Deacons of Central Baptist Church, Caleb Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Staff of National Park Medical Center, Dr. Barony, Dr, Kaual, Dr. Shaw, VFW, Hot Springs High School class of 1958, Jim Geurin and Odyssey Hospice. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Gross Funeral Home. Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 26, 2013, at Gross Funeral Home with Pastor John McCallum, Brother Coy Sample and Brother Bill Harris officiating.
