JEWEL ALMA CARSON, 92, of North Little Rock, passed away peacefully while surrounded by many family members on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012. She was born on Sept. 22, 1920, in Pottsville, Ark. to John and Laura (Lewallen) Hipps and attended Pottsville Freewill Baptist Church. A loving mother and grandmother, Alma Carson displayed unconditional love to her family as well as anyone in need. While working at the Arkansas State Hospital in Little Rock, she also provided aid and comfort to many with special needs until her retirement. She will be missed by all! She was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, James Carson; a son, Charles Carson; two stepdaughters, Virginia Evans and Frances Pope; seven brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren. She is survived by one brother, Emmitt Hipps of Sedgwick, Kan.; three children, James (Susan) Carson, William "Bill" (Sandy) Carson, Alice (Gene) Dungan; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Mae Carson (granddaughter-In-law) who was her faithful and loving caregiver for four and a half years. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Pottsville Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Shiloh Cemetery north of Adkins, Ark.
