John Roy Betts

John Roy "J.R." Betts, age 90, of Searcy, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 in Searcy. He was born Sept. 27, 1922 in Searcy to John Rodney Betts and Dovie Simpson Betts. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII, retired from Adams Pest Control and a member of Four Mile Hill Church of Christ. He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Smith and husband Gary of Searcy, Shirley Baugh and husband Vaughan of Searcy; four grandchildren, Mitzi Holland and husband Chuck, Melanie McIntire, Monty Baugh and wife Misty, Justin Baugh and wife Jennifer; eight great-grandchildren, Nick Hastings, Nicole Hastings, Jessica Holland, Seth Jones, Grace Herron, Brody Baugh, Brooks Baugh, Lucian Baugh; and one great-great-grandson, Payton Hastings. He is preceded in death by his father, John Betts; mother, Dovie Betts Bell; wife, Doris Betts; three brothers, John Rodney Betts (infant), Jake Betts, Frank Betts; and two sisters, Fannie Stracener and Johnny Crain. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 until 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, Searcy. Graveside funeral services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Harmony Cemetery.
