Michael (Mike) Lee Lakin

Michael (Mike) Lee Lakin, 58, of East End, Ark. left us to be with Jesus Christ on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012. He was born Nov. 25, 1954, in North Little Rock, Ark. Mike was a member of Lifeline Baptist Church. In addition to his family and friends, he loved his work as a manufactured home salesman and Razorback sports. No matter if it was playing a board game, on the court, field, or on the sale lot - Mike was a competitor in every aspects of life. His final victory came Saturday when he defeated leukemia that he battled for over 26 years. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Frances Smith Lakin. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Cheryl Cook Lakin; his children, Karen Hatcher (Lance) and Mike Colvin; his grandchildren, Gage Perciful and Ryan Colvin; his parents, Bill and Lou Lakin; his four brothers; two sisters; 16 nieces and nephews; his two brother-in-laws and two sister-in-laws; He is also survived by an aunt and uncle and numerous cousins and friends. A memorial service officiated by Rev. Jeff Dial will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at Lifeline Baptist Church, Little Rock, Ark. at 2 p.m. with a time of visitation at 1 p.m. before the service at the church. A family graveside service led by his brother, Rev. Jeff Lakin, will follow at the Salem Cemetery in the East End community.
