Ethel Lorene Cook passed away December 31, 2012. She was 93, born September 25, 1919. Ethel was the daughter of George and Lillian Epperson. She was the last survivor of eight brothers and sisters. She was born in Rudolph County, Ark. and lived most of her life in Calera, Ala. She was married to the late Howard Cook and is survived by her three loving daughters and sons-in-law. Carolyn Cunningham (the late Gil Cunningham) of Jacksonville, Ark., Joyce Stewart (Ralph Stewart) of Jacksonville, Ark., Betty Hall (Bobby Hall) of Cabot, Ark., granddaughters, Kim Blonds of Nashville, TN, Kristen Rodgers (Aaron Rodgers) of Ft. Smith, Ark., grandsons, Stephen Stewart (Heather) of Little Rock, Ark., Tim Stewart (Brittney)of Wallas, Texas, four great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. She also leaves sister-in-law, Mary Epperson of Laurel Hill, Fla., and many loved nieces, nephews and friends. Ethel loved her children, family, and friends. She loved making new friends. She always had a friendly smile on her face and she did until the end even while suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Ethel worked hard and loved her job as a homemaker. She also enjoyed owning and operating her own business as a hairdresser. She was a licensed cosmetologist. She worked in her business until age 75 and as a widow moved to Arkansas to be near her daughters. She lived up to her name "Cook" by being the best cook we have ever known. Ethel was a member of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church of Sherwood.
