Barbara "Bobbie-Jean" Tappin Austin Merriweather, a long-time resident of Little Rock, went on to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday December 31st at Baptist Medical Center at the age of 77. Barbara lovingly served as a wife for 34 years to Nathaniel Merriweather Sr. until his death on May 26, 2012, mother to eight children, grandmother to 25, great-grandmother to 60, and great-great-grandmother to 11. Her life encompassed great joy and love for her family and members of her church families at Word of Truth and Awareness Center International. She was preceded in death by her children Nathaniel Merriweather, Jr., Glendora Austin, and Rosalyn Dianne Austin. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Denious) Houston, Pearl Wilkerson Day, Nalencia Merriweather; sons, Robert (Detheny) Austin, James Austin, and Kem Marc (Doris) Austin; siblings, Mary Ivy, Vivian (Arthur) Lambert, Lincoln (Wanda) Tappin of Little Rock, Lewis (Essie) Tappin, Norman (Yvonne) Tappin, Kay (Harold) Ridgeway of Jacksonville, Ark., Billy (Mary) Tappin of New Haven, Conn., Lavern Tappin of St. Louis, Mo. Family hour: 5:30-6:30 p.m. Friday at Robinson Mortuary Chapel, Little Rock.
