A. Wayne Tennille

Dr. A. Wayne Tennille, 83, of Searcy, passed away on Jan. 18, 2013. He was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Baker County, Ga. to the late Glynn W. and Polly Isler Tennille. Dr. Tennille earned a BSA degree at the University of Georgia in 1950, MSA degree at Oklahoma State University in 1955, and a PhD degree at the University of Florida in 1959. He joined the US Air Force in September 1950 and received an honorable discharge in 1954. He was an extension state soil specialist at the University of Georgia from 1959 until March, 1962, when he became a professor at ASU-Jonesboro, where he retired in December, 1987. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, J.D. Tennille. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Tennille; daughters, Deborah Riley and husband Wayne of Little Rock and Rosemary Haynes and husband Jim of Port St. Joe, Fla.; grandchildren, Chris and Matthew Riley, Autumn, Anna, and Austin Haynes. Dr. Tennille was a member of First Baptist Church in Searcy where a visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, followed by a funeral ceremony at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Weir Cemetery.
