Harry Lee Raney

Harry Lee Raney, 87, of Searcy, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013. He was born July 31, 1925, the son of Joe and Jeannie Rudy Raney. Harry is survived by his wife, Levana Rhea Raney; one daughter, Tressia Roberts; three sons, Tony Raney and his wife Beth, Terry Raney and his wife Ginger, and Steve Raney; six grandsons, Jason Raney and his wife Amanda, Aaron Raney and his wife Lindsey, Dustin Raney and his wife Barbara, Jon Raney and his wife Jessica, Josh Raney and his wife Becca and Bryan Raney; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Aileen Johnson, Kittye Daniels, and Nina Bodin; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Byron and Ralph; two sisters, Sara Raney and Shirley Lesher; and a son-in-law, Jim Roberts. After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he fought in France, Harry returned home and married his sweetheart, Levana Rhea Howerton. He then worked for a while for Roper Appliance manufacturing in Rockford, Illinois; then he worked for a purebred herford ranch in Denton, Arkansas, the C.H. Briley Cattle Ranch of Hickory Plains, Arkansas. After that, he worked for Lomanco Manufacturing Company in Jacksonville, Arkansas, where he was a production worker and was then was promoted to plant manager where he served for ten years. Harry closed out his working career as a farmer and rancher in White County. Harry was a member of the West Side Church of Christ. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home of Searcy. The family requests memorials be made to the Searcy Children's Home, P.O.
