Betty Ruth Malham

Betty Ruth Malham was born Aug. 17, 1927, in Valley Springs, Ark., to James Thomas Atchley and Eva Mae Curnutt Atchley. She was the youngest of 10 siblings: four brothers (Flem, Elam, Ray, and JT Atchley) and five sisters ( Minnie Atchley, Amo Redus , Mary Perl Johnson, Lorene Atchley, and Leota Mae Edwards). Betty died June 30, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Mike Malham of Cabot, Ark.; three children, Mickey French of Cabot, Michael Malham and his wife Alexis of Cabot, and Maria Malham of Little Rock; and four grandchildren, LexiAnne Malham of Little Rock, Matt Malham and his wife Whitney of Cabot, Shelly French McLernon and her husband Mikie of Hazen, and Josh French of Arkadelphia. Betty graduated in Valley Springs, Ark. in May of 1946. She attended Arkansas State Teachers College and Southern Methodist University. Betty was a first and second grade teacher for over 30 years at Clinton, Ark., Our Lady of Good Counsel in Little Rock and Blessed Sacrament in Jonesboro where she retired. Betty loved family and friends and filled her time with cooking, entertaining, bridge, sewing, and welcoming all to her home. Many Friday and Saturday nights were enjoyed by football fans from Catholic High Rockets, McClellan Lion and ASU Indians with Betty's after the game meals. Betty's family and the dedicated staff of Woodland Hills in Jacksonville cared for her as she lived for years with Alzheimer's disease. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 at St. Jude The Apostle Church in Jacksonville, Ark. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m., Sunday, July 7, at the Church.
