IMOGENE "JEAN" BURNS GOODWIN, 87, went to be with the Lord July 5, 2013. Jean was born in Hope, Ark. on Aug. 31, 1925 to Ruby and Myrtis Burns. She was a faithful member of the Lord's Church and worshipped with the saints that meet at the church of Christ in Mabelvale, Ark. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and a brother. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Chester Ray Goodwin; daughter, Lisa Shoptaw (Robert) of Little Rock; two sons, Dr. Stephen Goodwin (Sandra) of Jackson, Tenn. and David Goodwin of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren, David Shoptaw of Little Rock and Carol Anne Braswell (Matthew) of Lowell, Ark.; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Braswell; sister, Velda Kennedy of Carson City, Nev.; special nieces, Jayne West and Deanna Etheridge; nephews, Spencer Adair and Bobby "Dallas" Smith; and a host of family and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to Margaret Gateley and Ann Cline for their care, love, and support, as well as a special thank you to Dr. Scott Rypkema, the nurses and staff of 8B at Baptist Health, and Hospice Home Care. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills, 10200 Hwy 5 N., Alexander, Arkansas. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Minister Dennis Gulledge will officiate. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
