Billy Wayne "Bill" Hood

Billy W. "Bill" Hood, age 75, of Conway, formerly Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at his home. He was born on January 31, 1938, in Marianana, Arkansas to the late Riley and Lula Bell Hood. He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Hood; and three sisters, Jimmie Hurst, Judy Hood Taylor and Darlene Booker Satterfield. Bill was the fifth of 8 children. He married Kathryn Veazey in Augusta, Arkansas on Dec.14, 1959. He attended Brinkley Schools and he served in the Air Force for four years. He was a former resident of Fairfield Bay for 10 years. Bill was a self-employed entrepreneur, owning Arkansas Wholesale Florist, Bargain City and A-1 Distributors. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Carlisle, Arkansas. He enjoyed boating, skiing, golf, tennis; and he had soloed in an air plane, as well as scuba diving, motorcycle racing. Bill will be remembered by his loving wife, Kathy and their daughter, Pamela Clay and husband Ken of Scott, Arkansas. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Chad Clay and wife Rachel of Athens, Georgia; Eric Clay and wife Emily of North Little Rock; one great-grandchild, Elyn Clay of North Little Rock; brothers, Danny (Carol) and Larry (Judy) Hood; and sister, Betty Hood Shaw (Byrl); and a number of nephews and nieces. Visitation will be from 1 p.m., until Funeral Service begins at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills.
