William G. "Bill" Cartwright

William G. (Bill) Cartwright, retired pharmacy owner, and longtime North Little Rock resident, passed away at his home on July 7, 2013. He was 83 years old. A pharmacist for over 50 years, Bill took ownership of Park Hill Pharmacy on John F. Kennedy Blvd. in 1962. During his over 40 years there, he opened a second pharmacy in Cabot. After USA Drug Company purchased Park Hill Pharmacy, Bill continued to serve his customers in a new location, still on John F. Kennedy Blvd. He retired from pharmacy practice in 2010. Born in 1930 in Trinity, Texas, Bill moved with his family to Park Hill in 1936. He went on to graduate from North Little Rock High School in 1947. After two years at the University of Colorado in Boulder, he began Pharmacy School at the College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas. In 1951, he was drafted and served two years in Korea. In September of 1953, he returned to Pharmacy School in Little Rock, graduating in 1956. While in Pharmacy School in Little Rock, he met Beth, and the two were married in February, 1954. They celebrated 59 years together this year. Bill was a member of the North Little Rock Residential Housing and Facilities Board for many years, and a longtime member of Lakewood United Methodist Church. Bill was the son of Charles Cartwright and Helen Cartwright Montgomery of North Little Rock. He is survived by his wife Beth, his son Terry (Susan), and granddaughter Maddie of Plano, Texas, daughter Kim Cartwright of Little Rock, Jill Gray of Little Rock, and brother Jim (Margaret) Cartwright of Greenbrier, Arkansas. We would like to thank Drs. Michael Church MD, Robert Stanley MD, and Kewen Jauss MD for their care over these past few years. We would also like to give a special thank you and appreciation to Mr. Fletcher Stewart for his time and compassion in caring for Bill. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 1922 Topf Road, North Little Rock, with Reverend Richard Lancaster officiating. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service. Family visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock Arkansas. 501-835-3515.
