Rev. JAMES GARRISON, 88, of Little Rock, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday July 17, 2013. He was the fifth of seven children born to the late Ernest and Arline Garrison, Sept. 16, 1924. He was educated in the Desha County and Little Rock Schools. He served and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII. He was retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 40 years. He was a preacher of the gospel for 53 years; having pastored two churches during that tenure; First Missionary Baptist Church, Woodson, Ark.; Traveler's Rest Baptist Church, Homonoke, Ark.. After retiring from pastoring, he continued to minister as an associate at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoring of C. Dennis Edwards I. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Earnestine Lindsey Garrison, and all of his siblings. He truly will be missed by his children; Rev. James E. (Shirley) Garrison, Rev. William (Jean) Givens, Amelia (Terry) Battles, Beverly Johnson, and a host of grand children, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Home going Celebration will be Wednesday July 24, 2013, 11 a.m., at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Roosevelt and Main, Little Rock. Interment will follow with honors at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, NLR, Ark. Viewing Tuesday, July 23, 2013, 12-5 p.m., at Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 South Chester St. LR (501) 372-1305.
