Elijah Winford "Buddy" Adams, 91, of El Dorado, AR; died on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born on December 29, 1921 in El Dorado, Ark.; Buddy was the son of Alonzo A. and Fannie L Cottrell Adams. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army with the 81st Infantry Division nicknamed "The Wildcats" in the Pacific Theatre and during the occupation of Japan at the end of the war. Buddy retired from Southwestern Bell and ATT, after 38 years as a lineman and later as a PBX installer. He was an active member of The First Baptist Church and an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Willie Lou Goodwin, Reva Wadsworth, and Dorothy Jean George. Survivors are his wife of 66 years Margie "Mickey" L. Burrow Adams of El Dorado, a daughter Marcia Adams (Jay) Justice of Little Rock, sons Mark W. (Shawna) Adams of Vienna, VA, John B. (Renee) Adams of Marietta, GA, Stephen C. (Teresa) Adams of El Dorado, a brother Maxwell E. Adams of El Dorado, along with 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at The First Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Pearson officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Directors on Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to The First Baptist Church, 200 W.
