Aldo Mazzanti

Aldo R. Mazzanti (Al) age 89, of Lake Village died at home on Wednesday, July 24th, 2013, in Lake Village, Arkansas. He was born December 18, 1923, to Enrico and Maria Mazzanti in Lake Village, Ark. Al served in the Air Force from 1943-1946 as a Staff Seargent and Aerial Engineer Gunner. He also spent many years in the truckstop business running the well-known, Al's Truckstop in Lake Village. Some of his favorite time was spent traveling the U.S. with his wife in their RV, one of their favorite places to visit was Mission, Texas, where they spent several winters. They also loved to meet new friends while square dancing, even hosting round dances in their home. His other hobby was carpentry as he was a self-taught carpenter and could be found in his shop making furniture. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Theresa Mazzanti, and three children, James Mazzanti of Hot Springs, David Mazzanti of Little Rock, Shirley Catalani of Lake Village; he has six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five brothers, Joe B., Fiore, Frank, Gene and Paul Mazzanti; and two sisters, Gloria Morara and Catherine Talbot. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Victor, Ned, and Henry; and a sister, Rose. The Rosary is 6p.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at Bishop Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village, Ark. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary's School of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School.
