Patricia Ann Brann Whaley

Patricia Ann Brann Whaley, 84, entered into eternal rest at her home on May 30, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Pat was born to James Ferris "Fay" Brann and Grace Harper Brann of Monticello, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Monticello High School and of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. After her graduation from college, she married William Crawford Whaley Jr, also of Monticello, on August 6, 1949 and they remained married until his death in 2002. Pat's life revolved around her husband, her family and her friends. She and Bill raised their children in Warren, Arkansas, where she was active in the Methodist Church, Junior Auxiliary and other charitable groups. In 1987, Pat and Bill moved to South Padre Island, Texas where they enjoyed a life of semi-retirement and then full retirement, as part of the Cameron County Medical Society, the Rotary Club, and the SPI Chamber of Commerce, making many friends along the way. Survivors include her three children, Ann Whaley Sloss of South Padre Island, Sue Whaley (Dr. Marco Rubio-Ardilla+) Rubio of Brownsville, Texas and James William (Carla) Whaley of Houston, Texas; a grandson, William Brann Whaley of Austin, Texas; and a granddaughter, Alexandra (Brian Rifkin) Harper Burban of New York, New York. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Central Christian Church, 1100 East Alton Gloor Road, Brownsville, Texas 78526.
