Joe Edwin Lowrey, 80, of Searcy, died May 30, 2013, at White County Medical Center. He resided at Run Oaks assisted Living facility. As a young man, Joe served two years in the Army. He spent most of his life in Searcy. While living in California for a short period, he drove a moving van. When returning to Searcy, he established his own electrical company. Joe's eyesight began to fail, so he sold his home and moved to Harding Place. Total blindness led him to move to the assisted living facility. Being blind, Joe decided to write a book on the first phase of his life which he did. Joe had three children; two sons, Van and Joey (deceased); and a daughter Joanda Lowrey. Joe was a licensed commercial pilot. One thing he loved was flying his single engine plane he named Snoopy. Joe was one of 14 children. Surviving siblings are: I. V. Bogle, Beebe, Ark., Jessie Burl Lowrey, Carson, Calif., John Milton Lowrey, Running Springs, Calif., and Ollie Huntsman, San Diego, Calif. Grave side services to be held June 4, 2013 at 10 a.m., Foster Chapel cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Powell Funeral Home, Searcy. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
