Jane Koen Stephenson

Jane Koen Stephenson departed this life at the Villages of Jackson Creek Assisted Living and entered her Heavenly home on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the age of 92. Jane was born in Gillett, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar S. (Shan) Stephenson; daughter, Nancy Collett; and brothers, Charles, Roy Jr. (Duly) and William A. (Bill). She is survived by one son, Mike Stephenson and wife Patti of Lee's Summit, Missouri; one grandson, John Stephenson and wife Joni of Little Rock, Arkansas. "Miss Jane" was beloved by the approximately 500 students she taught during her 20 years of teaching kindergarten in DeWitt, Arkansas. She was also well known for her cake baking & decorating, catering many weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other special events. Jane will be fondly remembered for her strength, generosity, selflessness and love for her family and friends. In her later few years, she touched many lives during her time in assisted living, being known for her ever present smile, prayerful spirit and the encouragement that she gave with such a positive attitude, despite her disabilities. Memorial services will be held Sunday, June 9th at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in DeWitt, Ark. Visitation for family and friends will precede the service at 2 p.m. at the church.
