Wayne Holcomb, age 76, of Arkadelphia, died Saturday, June 8, 2013 at his home. He was born May 26, 1937 in Fendley, Ark. the son of Jewell Rush and Cora Kirksey Holcomb. Wayne was a retired security officer for Arkadelphia Public Schools, former deputy sheriff for Clark County Sheriff's Department and helped build the Degray Dam at Degray Lake. Wayne played guitar with the Country Boys Group. He loved to raise a big garden and gave most of his vegetables to family and friends. He was of the Pentecostal Faith and was a member of the Oak Grove Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Vernon, Lendol, Charles, Gerald, Gene Holcomb; three sisters, Ruth Partridge, Verlon Floyd, and Alta Fern Ainsworth; and his namesake, a nephew, Darrell Wayne Holcomb. Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, Patricia Francis Holcomb; one brother, Larry Holcomb and his wife Carolyn of Hot Springs; two sisters, Evelyn Allen of Bismarck and Lavonne Carson and her husband Cliff of Hampton, Ark., four sisters-in-law, Mary Holcomb of Arkadelphia, Gloria Holcomb of Amity, Linda Holcomb of Pearcy, and Karen McKinney of Hot Springs; several nieces and nephews and special pet dog, Teddy. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11 in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Arkadelphia with his nephew Brother Jeff Ainsworth officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
